WSP wins Danish super hospital

Consultant WSP has been appointed to provide multidisciplinary engineering services for the new Odense University Hospital in southern Denmark.

This is the country’s largest ever hospital project, with an area of 234,000 m2 and a project value of 6.3n Danish kroner (£450M).

The 743-bed, campus-style hospital is one of the first of a new generation of super hospitals in Denmark.  In addition to the hospital buildings it will also include a university faculty building to provide new opportunities for teaching and medical research as well as a first class environment for patient care.

Construction is planned to start in 2015 with completion due in 2020.

WSP is part of the consortium Medic OUH, working alongside White Architects, KHR Architects, Dall & Lindhardtsen, EKJ Rådgivende Engineers  and Oluf Jorgensen.
