The Gallery | World’s longest floating bridge

The world’s longest floating bridge has opened in Washington State.

The 77 pontoon bridge across Lake Washington between Seattle and Medina includes three different types of pontoons, the largest being 120m long and weighing 11,100t.

Construction of the six lane bridge began in 2011 with a joint venture of Keiwit and General & Manson working on the £412M and the design and build contract.

The pontoons are secured with anchors, including drilled shaft anchors.
