Sweco wins Polish flood management contracts

Flood

Engineering firm Sweco has signed two new contracts to provide consulting services on a flood management project in Poland, worth approximately €27M (£23M).

The contracts – awarded by the regional water management authorities in Wrocław and Szczecin – cover consulting services for the Odra-Vistula flood management project and will take six and a half years to complete.

The project is being co-financed by the World Bank and aims to improve flood protection for people in selected areas near the Odra and Vistula rivers.

“Ensuring and improving flood protection is one of the most important factors in securing the sustainable social and economic development of a region or country,” said Sweco Central Europe president Ina Brandes.

“Being selected for these projects in Poland is a testament to Sweco’s recognised expertise in flood protection.”

The consulting services for the project include supervising construction work, preparing design and tender documents, and creating environmental and social safeguarding documents.
