A UK-based engineering charity is calling for changes to the way migrant workers are paid.
10am: Engineers Against Poverty has put together a report, which urges for electronic payments of wages to migrant construction workers in Qatar to be made mandatory.
Qatar is embarking on a huge programme of construction in preparation for the 2022 World Cup.
The report relies on meetings with contractors and client programme managers as well as public institutions.
The call comes two months after Amnesty International insisted that exploitation and abuse of Qatar’s construction workers must end.
