Mott MacDonald appointed on giant Chinese plaza job

Mott MacDonald has been picked to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for the £88.5M Shanghai Foxconn Plaza in China.

Located in the financial centre of Shanghai by the Huang Pu River, the 50,000m² plaza will be the headquarters of Hong Hai Technology Group.

It will comprise 21 stories and four annex levels, as well as a 32,000m² basement made up of four floors. There will also be parking spaces for 500 vehicles.

Sam Hung, Mott MacDonald’s project director, said: “The Shanghai Foxconn Plaza is targeting both LEED platinum medal and national two-star green building certificates. The design includes sustainable features such as a double curtain wall façade, rainwater harvesting, LED lighting, solar panels and geothermal heat exchange.”

Construction of the Shanghai Foxconn Plaza is due to be completed by the end of 2017.
