Laing O’Rourke wins Brisbane airport expansion

NCE stock airports

Laing O’Rourke has been selected to serve as managing contractor on two new gates for Brisbane Airport’s International Terminal.

The AUS $70M (£40M) gates will allow the airport to receive large aircraft – including the Airbus A380.

Four aerobridges that allow passengers to reach aircraft and new facilities airside are included in the design.

“While preparatory works have been underway for a number of weeks, this week’s official contract signing with Brisbane Air Corporation gets the planning phase formally underway,” said Laing O’Rourke region director Pat Cashin.

“We have a proud history of supporting Brisbane Airport’s domestic and international terminals – including most recently the Domestic Terminal Access Project, connecting the car park and Airtrain to the main buildings, as well as a range of services across the wider precinct such as the Q-Catering base for Qantas.”

Laing O’Rourke has worked on 20 projects at Brisbane Airport. The company’s work with the airport dates from 1987, when it constructed the original Domestic Terminal.
