Hong Kong Port investment to be guided by sustainability strategy

Engineering consultant BMT Asia Pacific has been commissioned by the Hong Kong Transport and Housing Bureau to deliver a major study into the future of the Hong Kong Port.

The Strategic Development Plan for Hong Kong Port 2030 report will help to guide port development policy and will inform investment in future port facilities and related infrastructure.

BMT Asia Pacific director Simon Su said the report will specifically address a sustainable development strategy for the port. “With improved port capacity and quality available at Shenzhen and other Pearl River Delta ports, Hong Kong Port will need to improve and evolve in order to increase market share in future years,” he said.

The final report will be delivered in July 2012.
