First Fehmarnbelt environmental report out for consultation

Denmark has launches the consultation process for the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the planned Fehmarnbelt submerged tunnel between Denmark and Germany.

Danish transport minister Henrik Dam Kristensen said that reaching the EIA stage is an important milestone for the project.

“Femern has carried out a comprehensive piece of work and I look forward to the public now having the opportunity to gain an insight and offer their views,” he said.

The EIA consultation for Denmark and the Baltic Sea states is open until 20 September.
