Civils contractors named for £4bn hydro scheme

New energy

A preferred bidder has been named for the main civils contract on a £4bn hydro power project in Canada.

Vancouver-headquartered Acciona Infrastructure Canada looks set to carry out major works on the 1,100MW Site C Clean Energy Project in British Columbia.

The firm will work with Petrowest Corporation and Samsung C&T Canada on the BC Hydro scheme.

Works, expected to take eight years, will include construction of an earthfill dam, two diversion tunnels and a concrete foundation for the generating station and spillways.

Acciona Canada president Darren Sokoloski said: “Our team at Acciona Infrastructure Canada is excited to be a part of building a legacy project for British Columbians that will provide clean energy for generations to come.

“We look forward to once again be working with our partners in Fort St John and we remain strongly committed to creating jobs and opportunities for northern British Columbians.”
