Arup merges US offices

Arup is to close its East Coast Westborough office of fire protection engineering specialists with staff relocating to the firm’s Boston office.

Arup said the Boston office will now be home to a “more diverse and talented group of fire protection engineers; code consultants; building engineers including structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing; bridge engineers and civil engineers”.

It added that the groups have always collaborated closely, but that it was “looking forward to the new opportunities of sharing ideas and approaches that will come with proximity”.

Jeffrey Tubbs, Associate Principal, leads the New England team of fire protection engineers and code consultants on national projects from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to Alaska’s North Slope as well as a number of international projects. Known for bridging the gap between fire research and engineered designs, Arup’s fire protection engineers provide creative solutions to a wide range of clients.

According to Mark Walsh-Cooke, Principal and Boston Group Leader, “We welcome our colleagues from Westborough and look forward to the many benefits that will result from this move.”
