Acciona won a €90M (£71.6M) contract to design and build a water plant in Manila.
As part of a joint venture with local companies Jardine Electric Control Philippines and Frey Fil, Acciona will build the Putatan 2 plant, and oversee its first year in operation.
The plant will be located next to an existing water treatment facility, and is designed to provide water for 6M people. Putatan 2’s capacity will be 100,000m3 per day, with a possible extension to 150,000m3 per day.
Water from Laguna de Bay, the biggest lake in the country, will supply the new plant. Dissolved air flotation, biological aerated filter, ultrafiltration, and reverse osmosis will be used to treat the water.
The project is expected to be completed in mid-2018.
