Work ahead of schedule on Twin Sails bridge

Contractor Hochtief has said construction work is progressing well and is two months ahead of schedule on Poole’s Twin Sails bridge following the installation of its giant lifting leaves last week.

The contractor has now installing the side spans using a mobile transporter on a barge.

Construction is due to be completed by the end of the year, with the bridge opening in March 2012.

Consultant Gifford, working with architect Wilkinson Eyre, designed the 140m crossing over Poole Harbour.
