Words worth

Letters

I would first like to thank GL Akers for doing the candidates justice by at least reading their election statements (NCE last week).

For my part, the use of the word proactive was in the motivational sense, rather than in the activity sense. The opposite of active being inactive, whereas the opposite of proactive is reactive.

I want members of the Institution to give their views and become involved with Institutional affairs at an early stage, rather than let important decisions overtake them and then complain bitterly that the ICE is not serving their interests. Both approaches involve some form of activity, I wish to promote proactivity.
