Word on the street

LETTERS

The article on Streetbroadcast's solution to lamppost replacement (NCE 28 June) needs clarification on two essential points.

Our proposition has not met with as much scepticism as described in the article. The cash strapped councils, as described in the article, that we have approached, have of course offered healthy criticisms, but in the main have been open minded and knowledgeable.

We have been pleased to eliminate concerns regarding safety after explaining that Streetbroadcast is a safety first company. In most instances a new, specifically designed column will be installed, of a standard size and in keeping with the nearby lampposts. Our patented wind reduction mechanism is an extra safety feature.

Streetbroadcast's proposition will help to solve problems with wasting lampposts. It will also help councils offer improved service to the community.
