The Gunite Eastern team in Exabyte 2 took the Little Britain Challenge Cup trophy last week continuing owner Gerry Otter's winning streak after his success in the Commodores Cup last month (NCE 2 September). Exabyte 2 came first in all three of its races as did the crew from Dean & Dyball Construction on Sunsail 71, which also took the prize for highest placed contractor. Sir Robert McAlpine's boat Erivale also managed a clean sweep in its class, unlike the company's other entry which earned the Team Spirit Award after running aground for several hours on a sand bank. The boat, Lion, was rechristened 'Lion on its Side' for the rest of the regatta which took place off Cowes. There were a record 232 entrants in this year's event. Next year's event is booked for 8-11 September.
