Wind of change

Your article Calls for wind shields after lorry falls off bridge (NCE last week) quotes Peter Head continuing his antagonism to the Dartford Bridge. My understanding is that it is not 'often shut'.

In the storms of 7/8 January many more vehicles were blown over on rural main roads than on any bridges - 24 on a short stretch of the A1(M) near Darlington alone.

Would Head advocate continuous windshielding of all motorways?

In his eulogy of the Second Severn Crossing there is no reference to the unacceptable aerodynamic oscillations of the cable-stayed span in early service, requiring it to be retrofitted with baffle girders, as Dr Homberg had incorporated in the design of the Dartford Bridge from the start.
