Wind farm gets green light for 16 more turbines

Rochdale Borough Council has granted permission for the final stage of the Scout Moor wind farm, which will see 16 turbines added to the existing 26 at the Lancashire site.

Peel Energy and United Utilities will build the turbines on land between Rochdale and Rossendale to create England’s largest onshore wind farm.

The final approval was granted last week with the majority of the new turbines approved on 1 September.

The wind farm has been operating since 2008.
