Wight off

I hope the Institution will note that the letter 'Wight road' (NCE last week) came not from an engineer, but from the communications and public relations department of the Isle of Wight Council.

What have we come to?

I write as a former county surveyor - a breed that no longer exists, but which would have been able to put the case better than a PR.

Is the Institution alive to the sad perception that this letter gives to the public whom their members in local government seek to serve?

AW Jacomb - formerly CS Hampshire CC, art@fyfhyde.freeserve. co. uk
