Whitby view is last resort

Letters

With senior ICE members like Mark Whitby as our friend, who needs enemies?

Rarely have I read such a condescending article as last week's 'Angel of the North'. If Mr Whitby considers ICE members who have gone through years of academic study, followed by an intensive and varied professional training, should welcome being confused in the public eye with a highly skilled welder, he is mistaken.

Nowhere else in the world is the title engineer so easily available as the UK. Perhaps we should be more careful with it.
