Whitby Coastcare carries off award


WHITBY URBAN wastewater scheme scooped the Yorkshire association 2002 award for excellence in civil engineering construction this week.

Results of the respected regional award were announced by ICE President Mark Whitby to a gathering of more than 300 during the local association's annual dinner in Harrogate.

The winning scheme, part of Yorkshire Water's Coastcare Programme, involved the construction of major new sewer tunnels up to 2.8m diameter and of a new pumping station at Endeavour Wharf.
