WHEELY GOOD

The British Airways London Eye is getting a £500,000 paint job in a bid to boost its appearance and draw more visitors. Specialist contractor FA Clover will apply 4,500 litres of high performance, corrosion resistant paint to the London landmark. To keep the wheel open to tourists, the eight man painting team must work through the night. The real challenge will be reaching the hub and spindle, which will have to be done by abseiling from mobile booms. Work is due to end in October.
