Wheel of misfortune

The articles on the Millennium Wheel made depressing reading.

Like the other monstrosity further down river, it is another opportunity for throwing money into the laps of foreign firms and give our balance of payments yet another bashing.

It shows all too well the parlous state of the fabrication industry in the UK; virtually the entire structure of the wheel is made abroad - are we now incapable of making anything in this country?
