Wednesday 25 February, South East Specialist engineer support to operations in Iraq Lieutenant-Colonel Guy WilmshurstSmith, c/o of 64 military works group, talks about the operation to secure the Rumalia oilfields and efforts to re-establish national utilities and restoration of Basra airport. Members are also invited to attend dinner at the historic officers' mess at Brompton Barracks after the meeting. Cost is £17.

Wednesday 25 February, East Anglia Graduates & Students Committee Suffolk estuaries in the 22nd Century - sustainable engineering solutions The Environment Agency's Nigel Pask talks about long term sustainable engineering strategies for the Blythe, Alde and Deben estuaries in Suffolk. He will discuss future sea level rise, land tilt and designing for 100-year storms.

Track isolation equipment provider Pandrol technical manager Steve Cox talks about new technology designed to tackle the problem.

Geert Degrande from Belgium's Catholic University of Leuven will also discuss new techniques for predicting wheel, rail and tunnel excitation. Wednesday 26 February North West NCE communications competition Teams will be asked to give a 20minute presentation on a controversial scheme at a mock public meeting, with the aim of improving communication and presentation skills.
