Commuter rail journeys into London have risen to their highest levels since the late 1980s and rush hour overcrowding is worsening, according to Strategic Rail Authority figures. Connex South Central, First Great Eastern, Silverlink, South West Trains and Thameslink were in breach of their capacity limits last year and have been ordered to produce action plans to reduce overcrowding.
