Plans to build seven gas-fired power stations are on hold due to investor doubts over the volatile energy market.

The power stations will replace Britain's eight ageing nuclear stations and could be operational in three years time. Bur power companies including Innogy and Centrica are reluctant to invest in construction until energy prices stabilise.
