Delays to the £91M revamp of the Royal Festival Hall on London's Southbank have led to the cancellation of its 2007 spring concert season. The complexity of the project and the discovery of asbestos has added £10M to costs and delayed reopening by six months to summer 2007.

Plans to construct a £275M six-lane motorway through Ibiza have met fierce local and international opposition. The local government says the 20km road will cut accidents, largely among clubbers leaving night spots during the morning rush hour. But opponents say the road will destroy the island.
