Castle Tioram in Moidart, Scotland, has been closed and needs £2.5M of remedial work, according to a report commissioned by Scottish government body, Historic Scotland. The castle's millionaire owner Lex Brown wants to restore the castle but Historic Scotland would prefer to preserve it as a ruin.

Stricken nuclear power generator British Energy has been given an extra two months to carry out life saving financial restructuring. Banks and bondholders had agreed to write off £1.3bn of debt in return for control of the company leaving shareholders with just 2.5% of the company shares. The extra time was needed due to delays in restarting plants at Hartlepool and Heysham, Lancashire, following modifications.
