What the papers say THE IRISH TIMES

News stand

The stench from 70,000 gallons of sewage pouring daily into the Galway village of Kinvara is driving away local businesses, say residents. The Kinvara Community Council (KCC) has campaigned for a new, £2M, sewage treatment plant for the past eight years.

Insurers estimate that floods in central Europe which killed at least 34 last week will cost £218M in Switzerland alone. The downpours, in Romania, Austria, Switzerland and Germany have also left 14,000 Bulgarians homeless.
