The government has contracted financial consultant Ernst & Young to carry out an independent review into £13bn plans to part privatise London Underground. Ernst & Young will review a value-for-money report that London Underground and its advisers PriceWaterhouse Coopers and Ove Arup are compiling.

Bobby Moore's face has been replaced by a woman's in a photograph of the 1966 World Cup celebrations, in a new poster campaign to challenge stereotypes. The Equal Opportunities Commission launched the campaign this week because it says youngsters are still trapped by gender stereotypes. The Commission recently found that 1% of all 11 to 16 year olds in construction courses were girls, but women make up 94% of apprentice hairstylists.
