Over a third of the UK's waste paper and plastic collected for recycling is sent China with unknown ecological consequences. The British plastics industry says the trade is starving some UK recycling companies of materials and putting others out of business. New government figures estimate that Chinese companies import 200,000t of plastic and 500,000t of paper.
