US president, George Bush has agreed to aid India's nuclear power programme. It is the first time in 30 years the US has supported a country that has not signed the nuclear nonproliferation treaty which obliges countries to accept monitoring of their nuclear facilities 'New plant culture' at Sellafield nuclear processing facility led workers and managers to ignore more than 100 warnings that it had sprung a leak. A board of inquiry into the leak of 83m 3 of radioactive liquid said the overconfidence of workers was completely unjustified as some supports for tanks holding the liquid had not been fitted.
