NEWS STAND

A schools green paper this week announced plans for every seven year old to be entitled to learn a foreign language from 2010. This follows criticism from EU partners over the UK's poor record on languages.

Wembley may yet host the World Athletics Championship - but not until 2009. Although there will be no permanent athletics track, this is now possible thanks to a temporary platform system.
