What the papers say - FINANCIAL TIMES

News stand

Rail service punctuality has generally improved, according to figures released this week.

Commuter services in the south east have returned to pre-Hatfield rail crash levels, with 88% of trains arriving on time compared with 82.1% last year. But regional train operator performance was more variable.

The number of Virgin West Coast line trains arriving on time fell from 81.5% in 2004 to 74.7% this year.
