Scottish Power has unveiled plans to spend £750M on boosting its wind power output in the UK from 250MW to 1,000MW by 2010.

Network Rail is to take on its first apprentices since the railways were privatised more than a decade ago. It wants to fill 1,500 vacancies which have arisen following the decision to take maintenance work back in-house.
