What the bidders say

Linc: 'We have not ruled anything out. We have had one brief conversation with London Underground and are looking forward to getting more direction.'

TubeRail: 'We would prefer a sequential bidding programme because of the availability of resources and time constraints'

New Metro: 'It depends on the conditions laid down by the Government.'

Tube Lines: 'We cannot make a decision until the rules of engagement are announced, then we will assess what it means'.

Metronet: 'We are waiting to hear from LUL and the Government. If Railtrack were to bid it would have an influence on our decision.'
