Westminster City Council

Westminster City Council has signed a contract with contractor Hochtief to begin work on a new £24M bridge at Paddington. The bridge will replace the existing one at Bishops Bridge Road which crosses rail and underground lines, a former goods yard and a canal. The project is jointly funded by Westminster City Council, airport operator BAA and Network Rail. The new structure will be wider than the existing bridge, carrying five lanes of traffic, widening to six lanes over the canal, as well as two pedestrian footways.
