Wellingborough station access improvements complete

Network Rail has completed major improvements to Wellingborough station in Northamptonshire this week, giving passengers step-free access between entrance and platform for the first time.

Engineers installed a new footbridge and two new lifts to allow easier and more equal access around the station.

Funding for the project was split between Network Rail as part of its plans to improve linespeed on the Midland Main Line, and the Department for Transport’s Access for All fund — a £370M pot which provides funding to improve station accessibility.
