Wates Construction wins Liverpool campus job

A £19.5M contract has been given to Wates Construction to build a campus for Liverpool John Moores University (JMU).

The firm will start building the new Mount Pleasant campus in May and finish it by spring 2012.

The six-storey site, designed by Wates, will house Liverpool Screen School and facilities for 6,000 students in the Faculty of Business and Law and Faculty of Media Arts and Social Science.

A new University Professional Centre will also improve facilities for clients involved with Liverpool JMU’s professional and post-graduate programmes.

The site will offer lecture theatres, IT suites and study areas, and is hoped to contribute to Liverpool’s ongoing regeneration.
