WATER WORLD

Miller Civil Engineering preparing to lower the 75t cutting head of the 600t, 7.45m OD Herrenknecht Mixshield tunnelling machine into an 18m deep shaft at Hastings. The machine will bore a 1.6km long stormwater tunnel under the centre of Hastings as part of a £43M design and construct contract awarded by Southern Water. The overflow tunnel will improve bathing water quality off Hasting's beaches and will allevate flooding of town centre properties during heavy storms.
