It is disturbing that a project for a barrage across the mouth of the Thames Estuary ticks the various boxes of flood prevention, housing development, transport and wildlife, without looking at its potential for hydroelectric generation.

Are we satisfi ed that nuclear and wind power is the answer to all our future power requirements?
