Vinci completes Heathrow job

Vinci Construction UK has completed a multi-aircraft ramp stand at Heathrow airport.

The contractor finished the £6M scheme, started in March 2013, which will increase the airport’s Airbus A380 capacity.

Work included demolition of an existing single fixed link and construction of a dual corridor fixed link, spanning and cantilevering over the airport’s stand roads.

It also included the upgrade and reconfiguration of an existing A340 stand.

Vinci project manager Chris Wall said: “The Airbus A380 has firmly established its place in the passenger jet industry.

“Airports are upgrading their facilities in order to keep up with the demand for these planes, and we’re delighted to be able to use our expertise in order to facilitate these changes.”
