Video | How the £90M Boston Barrier will protect 20,000 properties

The Environment Agency has released a video explaining how the recently approved Boston Barrier will protect flooding in the Lincolnshire town.

Chief secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander last week granted the outstanding £73M needed for the £90M project to protect 20,000 properties.

A 25m wide ‘rising cill’ barrier will be installed in the tidal Boston Haven, to be raised to 7.55m AOD using hydraulic cylinders.

The barrier will not be completed until the end of 2019, however. For more detail read NCE’s in-depth Boston Barrier article here.
