Video | Creation of One World Trade Center: 11 years in 2 minutes


Timelapse footage has been released of the construction of One World Trade Center in New York.

The tower, said to be the tallest building in the western hemisphere, was created on the site of the twin towers, which were destroyed in the terror attacks of 11 September 2001.

Its ground breaking ceremony was held on 27 April 2006 and its first steel columns were erected in December 2006. The tower was officially opened on 3 November 2014.

The video shows the building progress from October 2004 to Memorial Day 2015.
