Video | Construction of Anfield’s new main stand

Liverpool FC has released time-lapse footage of Anfield’s new Main Stand redevelopment.

Construction began in January on expanding the Main Stand at Anfield. Foundations to support the structure have been completed and work has begun on assembling the frame of the stand, which will sit behind the existing hoardings within the former Main Stand.

On completion, the expanded stand will reach 45m at its highest point, more than double the height of the current stand.

The new structure will be be built behind and over the current stand, and as matches are played at Anfield.

When the expanded stand is completed - due to happen this summer - Anfield’s overall capacity will increase to 54,000.

Further development of the Anfield Road Stand is planned, which would add a further 4,800 seats.
