Video | Barges deliver structural elements for Brighton's i360

Barges have delivered materials to Brighton for the construction of the i360 vertical cable car, with the arrival captured in this recently released video footage.

The vessels transported the tower ‘cans’ from the Netherlands to Brighton beach earlier this month.

A 100m tall crane unloaded the 17 specially fitted out cans, each between 6m and 12m high, directly onto the beach. The cans will stack to form the 162m tower’s main structure. A giant jacking tower will be used to join them together to build the tower.

About 7,000t of gravel, shingle and chalk had to be moved to create a platform for the delivery.
