Video | Bam launches 3D robot builder

Bam has introduced a 3D builder robot which can print stone and concrete and which is eventually expected to be able to print steel and insulation materials.

Bam and Universe Architecture launched the robot printer at FabCity in Amsterdam, where it will start construction of a house on a 1:4 scale.

“As well as the form freedom, we are also very much taken by the circular process. Concrete granulate and pre-existing prints can serve as a raw material for the machine at a later stage,” said Bam Bouw en Techniek commercial manager Rutger Sypkens.

The system works by dripping bonding liquid layer by layer on sand that then hardens in the required shape.
