Video | A day in the life of Crossrail tunnel engineer Olivia Perkins

Olivia Perkins is a tunnel engineer at Crossrail’s Tottenham Court Road station site with the Bam Ferrovial Kier (BFK) joint venture.

In the video, she explains her role on this challenging project, 30m below Oxford Street, central London’s busiest shopping district.

Perkins started working on Crossrail as a graduate engineer in September 2010, having joined Kier’s undergraduate placement programme in 2006.

The video was shown to the audience at last week’s International Tunnelling and Underground Space Awards 2014.
