Rig manufacturer CMV has had a good year. Despite the problems of the Italian market, executive vice president in the US Vittorio Nepoti says the export market is very strong, especially in the US and South America. 'We have sold 20 machines in the States this year and in the last few months we have also sold 10 more in Brazil.'
Nepoti adds that while the markets may vary (Americans like larger rigs apparently), company philosophy is the same, relying on high build quality, versatility and easy maintenance. One of the best ways of promoting quality is by compliance with international quality assurance standard ISO 9001, he says.
CMV manufactures a wide range of equipment including hydraulic piling rigs, casing oscillators, crawler drills for jet grouting, soil mixing, rotary drilling, ground anchoring and site investigation. Nepoti says customers are now asking for a base machine flexible enough to carry out a variety of work rather than a specifically tailored rig. This is the thinking behind its TH range, the latest generation of hydraulic piling rigs, which can be supplied with a variety of tools that can work off base components.
UK-based site investigation contractor Foundation & Exploration Services has just taken delivery of a CMV MK3000 hydraulic crawler drilling rig, which has been used extensively in the Far East.
