Value of railway construction in Poland to peak in 2015

A new report on the Polish railway construction industry says the value of railway construction will exceed €1.4bn (£1bn) in 2015.

The report, by market intelligence company PMR, says that PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK) the company responsible for the maintenance of rail lines in Poland, will soon start inviting tenders for projects for the 2014-2020 programming period.

Entitled Railway construction in Poland 2015-2020. Investments – Companies – Statistics – Forecasts – Prices, the report predicted that the industry will see a dip in 2016 as projects under the new EU programming period will be slower to take off. It says just over half the planned works for this period will be upgrades, while 24% will be renewals and 23% will be new lines. It says much of the work in coming years will be preparation works and the overall value of the work will exceed €120M (£88M).
