US Army Corps of Engineers sandbagging New Orleans' levees

The US Army Corps of Engineers has started sandbagging New Orleans' levees after Hurricane Rita opened holes in the repairs to breaches caused by Hurricane Katrina earlier this month. Temporary sheet pile closures across 17th Street and London Avenue canals have been removed to allow water to flow out of the city into Lake Pontchartrain.
